Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Mox mobile app and related services at mox.dance (together, “Mox”). By downloading or using Mox, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. What Mox is
Mox is a practice tool for social dancers. You import music you already have the right to use; Mox helps you find the count, separate instruments, label sections, and run drills. Mox is not a music store, streaming service, or distributor of third-party recordings.
2. No account required
You can use core features without creating an account. Some optional or future features may ask for additional information; if they do, we will say so in the app.
3. Your music and user content
- Your responsibility. You represent that you own or have a lawful right (for example, a personal copy you are allowed to use) to import and process each audio file you submit. You must not upload content you do not have rights to use.
- License to operate the service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to upload, process, temporarily store, and transmit your audio solely to provide stem separation, beat/section analysis, and related practice features you request.
- Retention. Processed audio on our servers is kept for your installation and deleted after 30 days of inactivity (or sooner if you request deletion as described in the Privacy Policy). Original imports remain on your device unless you delete them.
- No public sharing by default. We do not publish your uploads to other users. Features that export or share practice media (for example, a reel you create) are initiated by you.
- Copyright complaints. If you believe content processed through Mox infringes your rights, email info@mox.dance with enough detail for us to investigate. We may remove or disable access to server-side files associated with an install when appropriate.
4. Subscriptions, trials, and lifetime purchases
Paid features (such as Pro) are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions and/or one-time “Founder” or lifetime purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, fulfilled via RevenueCat.
- Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your store account settings.
- Your store account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Price and duration are shown in the app paywall and in the store listing.
- Manage or cancel in: iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not directly by Mox.
Free tiers may limit the number of songs or features; limits are described in the app.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: misuse the processing service (including attempts to bypass quotas or share access tokens); reverse engineer except where allowed by law; probe or disrupt our servers; or use Mox to infringe others’ IP or violate law.
6. Intellectual property
Mox, its branding, UI, and software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your music to us, and do not transfer ownership of Mox to you.
7. Disclaimer
Mox is provided “as is.” Practice guidance (counts, labels, stems) can be wrong; always use your own judgment when dancing or teaching. We do not warrant unbroken availability of the processing service.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for loss of audio files. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to Mox will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Mox in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50.
9. Termination
You may stop using Mox at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription in the store. We may suspend access to the processing service for abuse, legal risk, or operational need.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a new version at this URL and updating the effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
11. Contact / governing law
Questions: info@mox.dance.
[Human decision needed] Governing law and venue (for example, State of California, USA) and the legal entity name that operates Mox should be filled in before public launch. Until an entity is formed, “Mox” refers to the operator reachable at the contact email above.
